Photoshop Metallic Texture Tutorial

Use Photoshop filters to create a metallic texture.

Step 1 Create a new document (Cntrl+N) 400x400 pixels, with a grey background.
Step 2 Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise.
Step 3

In the dialog box, enter these values:

Amount: 25
Select Gaussian
Select Monochromatic

Step 4 Now go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and experiment with the Distance value, but leave the angle value at 0. I used 35 for the distance. If you want a "brushed metal look" use a value around 300.

There you have it. You can change the color by adjusting the Hue/Saturation.
